Attorney General Masto Recaps Legislative Accomplishments That Address Concerns of Citizens

Carson City, NV – With the 77th Legislative Session completed, Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto released a recap of key accomplishments that address concerns of citizens and stakeholders.

    “The Nevada Attorney General’s Office listened to the concerns of citizens and stakeholders and worked with them to develop sensible policy proposals,” said Masto. “I am pleased with the legislative work our office completed this session and greatly appreciate the support of Nevada Legislators and Nevadans on all sides of the issue who voiced support and concern on our bills.”

      The Attorney General Office’s bills, all of which have been signed into law, include:

      • Bills improving transparency in government by strengthening Nevada’s open meeting laws (AB 65), public records laws (AB 31), laws governing the administration of state government (AB 16), and campaign finance laws (AB 35). 
      • Bills providing greater protection for Nevadans against crime by combating methamphetamine production (AB 39), domestic violence fatalities (AB 30), and sex trafficking (AB 67), and improving victim safety through implementation of a statewide victim notification system (SB 26).
      • Bill providing greater consumer protection by strengthening Nevada law regarding non-profits soliciting charitable contributions (AB 60).
      • Bills improving the Attorney General’s ability to assist local law enforcement agencies (SB 22, SB 24, SB 25, AB 67) and to prosecute technological crime (SB 25), the exploitation of children (AB 67), false claims against the State (SB 437), and to defend the State against frivolous lawsuits (SB 27)
      • Bill protected and increased Nevada’s payments under the National Master Settlement Agreement with the nation’s tobacco manufacturers (SB 516).
