Attorney General Masto and Office Receive “Patriotic Employer” Award

Recognition from the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Employer Support

    LAS VEGAS – Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto and her office received the “Patriotic Employer” award given by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The Award recognizes the Nevada Attorney General’s Office for “supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.”

      “We are thankful for the exceptional service of our employees who are also reservists and National Guard members,” said Masto. “We are honored to be nominated for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Patriotic Employer Award.”

        It was also announced that the Office has been nominated to receive the “2014 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.” This is the highest award recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their support of their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. A total of 15 Nevada employers have been nominated to receive the “Freedom Award.” Other Nevada employers who received the nomination and were recognized at the ceremony include the Washoe County School District, the Nevada Highway Patrol, and MGM Resorts International.

          Since the Freedom Award was instituted in 1996, 190 employers have been honored at annual ceremonies in Washington D.C. Past recipients include Nevada Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA), Nevada Energy, and Sun Valley General Improvement District. Click here to learn more about the awards.
