Home Again to Host 2 ½ Hour Telethon to Benefit Nevadans

Carson City, NV – Nevada Attorney General (AG) Catherine Cortez Masto encourages Nevadans to take advantage of today’s telethon partnership with KLAS-TV CBS 8 from 4-6:30 p.m. to speak with a Home Again: Nevada Homeowner Relief Program housing counselor by calling 702-650-1101.

“There are still many Nevadans hit hard by the housing crisis, and Home Again is an easy and convenient resource for those affected by one of the worst economic climates in recent history,” said Masto. “The single phone call will secure a counseling session to determine the assistance available to give Nevadans options to address their housing issues or concerns.”

Since the launch of Home Again on January 7th, more than 6,060 Nevadans have contacted the hotline to determine the options and resources from which they may benefit. The public is encouraged to call if they are having problems making their mortgage payments and need help with a loan modification or mediation, are “underwater”, have lost their homes to foreclosure or are households working toward homeownership.

The Attorney General’s sponsored program, Home Again, provides Nevadans a convenient, no cost, single point of contact to schedule an appointment to speak with one of the Home Again counselors to determine what state or federal resources are available to them. This will include a review of all federal, state, and specific lender programs.

The Home Again hotline is a public service from the Attorney General’s office that came as a result of the National Mortgage Settlement. For homeowners unable to call during today’s event in partnership with KLAS-TV CBS 8, the “single point of contact” call center is available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 1-855-HLP4NEV (1-855-457-4638) or visit HomeAgainNevada.gov for more details.

This program is a partnership between the AG’s office, Financial Guidance Center (FGC), Nevada Legal Services (NLS), and Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. Participating HUD approved agencies in the program include: FGC, NLS, Housing for Nevada, Women’s Development Center, Community Services of Nevada, Neighborhood Housing Services, Novadebt, Springboard, and Chicanos Por La Causa.

This consumer alert is part of National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW), March 3-9, 2013. Starting Monday, March 4 and running through Friday, March 8, the Nevada Attorney General’s Office will issue daily consumer alerts relevant to Nevadans.
