Carson City, NV – Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto and the Nevada Advisory Council for Prosecuting Attorneys (NACPA) named Washoe County District Attorney Richard A. Gammick as recipient of the 2013 William J. Raggio Award during the Nevada Prosecutors Conference in Laughlin yesterday.
“The people of Washoe County have long recognized Dick Gammick for his work as a dedicated prosecutor,” said Masto. “He has worked tirelessly for most of his adult life to protect the rights, safety, and interests of others. I am honored to recognize this lifetime of effort and I am proud to award Dick Gammick with the 2013 Raggio Award.”
This award is presented annually to a current or former prosecutor who has contributed significantly to the improvement of the administration of justice in Nevada.
Gammick has served as Washoe County District Attorney for 19 years and five terms, the last of which expires at the end of 2014 when he will retire. Gammick is being recognized for his distinguished service as Washoe County District Attorney, his dedication as a prosecutor, and his strong commitment to justice for all.
He served as Deputy District Attorney and Chief Deputy District Attorney of Washoe County before being elected District Attorney in 1994. Prior to his career as a prosecutor, Gammick was a Reno Police Officer, a Major in the United States Army (with a combat tour in Vietnam) and Nevada National Guard, and a legal advisor to the Reno Police Department as a Deputy Reno City Attorney.

The NACPA is an executive branch state agency created pursuant to NRS chapter 241A with a broad statutory mandate to provide leadership, resources and legislative advocacy on legal and public policy issues related to the duties of Nevada's prosecutors. Masto serves as Chairperson of the Advisory Council.
