Nevada Attorney General Releases Domestic Violence Toolkit for Employers

December 29, 2014

Las Vegas, NV – Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto released a Domestic Violence In the Workplace toolkit for employers today, in an effort to ensure workplaces take every precaution possible to safeguard workers who may be victims of abuse at home.

“Domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking are issues that can occur outside of the workplace, but may still affect the workplace,” said Masto. “It is of the utmost importance for employers to know the resources that are available to them. Using the domestic violence toolkit is a step employers can take to ensure the safety and well-being of their employees.”

The toolkit, which provides employers with a workplace policy checklist, enables organizations to assess their knowledge and preparation for domestic violence scenarios. Through such an assessment, organizations can develop their own policies and procedures to address domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence and stalking in the workplace. Precautions such as employee assistance programs, manager training, and security are just a few of the items on the checklist that should be taken into account by all employers.

All employers and organizations are encouraged to make use of the toolkit. To access the toolkit, click here. For additional domestic violence resources, click here.
