AG Laxalt Encourages Nevadans to Protect Themselves Against Scams

Carson City, NV – Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt and his Bureau of Consumer Protection are joining state attorneys general throughout the country to celebrate National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW), March 5-11,2017.

As part of the 19th annual NCPW, AG Laxalt urges Nevadans to learn more about how to protect themselves against scams and theft of private information. In an effort to make Nevadans aware of the latest scams and tactics used by fraudsters, consumer alerts will be issued this week to address how consumers can avoid common scams reported throughout the state and country.

Topics for this year’s NCPW include tax season scams, the risks and scams associated with mobile apps and how to avoid being victimized by rental listing scams. An alert will also be issued to inform Nevadans of how to file a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General.

More information about NCPW is available here. More consumer protection information can be found on the Office of the Nevada Attorney General’s website and the Federal Trade Commission’s website.
