What type of crimes does the MFCU investigate?

In Nevada, it is a crime for a provider to deliberately bill Medicaid for a service that was not actually provided. Medicaid fraud comes in many forms, some of which include:

    • Billing for services/medication not provided
    • Billing for services/medication not needed
    • Double or over billing
    • Billing for services that should be combined into one bill, commonly referred to as bundling

The MFCU also investigates criminal abuse and/or neglect of residents in nursing homes and medical facilities that receive Medicaid funding.

Medicaid recipient fraud also occurs on the receiving side. Medicaid recipient fraud is handled by the Nevada Department of Welfare & Supportive Services.
