Nevada Attorney General Laxalt Announces Press Conference on Victims’ Rights Legislation

    WHO:  Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt, Washoe County District Attorney Christopher J. Hicks, other chief deputy district attorneys, sheriffs and victims’ rights advocates.

      WHAT:  The press conference will focus on Assembly Bill (AB) 49 that enhances penalties for child sex abuse cases and adds various provisions regarding expert testimony and the admission of evidence in sexual assault cases; AB 193 that allows for hearsay evidence to be admitted in certain pre-trial hearings; and Senate Joint Resolution (SJR) 17, otherwise known as Marsy’s Law, that creates a bill of rights for victims of crime.

        WHERE:  The press conference will take place on the third floor of the Mills B. Lane Justice Center, South Tower, at 1 S. Sierra St., Reno, NV 89501. Space is limited.

          WHEN:  The press conference will begin on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m., and is open to the media.
