Attorney General Masto Announces Victim Advocate Protocols

December 26, 2014

Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto announced today the release of the Nevada Victim Advocate Protocols intended for advocates and service providers who assist victims of crime.

“I hope victim advocates and service providers throughout the state will reference these materials and use them as a roadmap when working with victims of domestic violence as well as other victims of crime,” said Masto.

The Nevada Victim Advocate Protocols provide guiding principles for advocates based on national recommendations. The handbook provides resources and information for serving victims of crime.

Systems-based and community-based advocates can find information on understanding the critical needs for victims of crime, their rights, confidentiality and documentation standards, and training information.

The Nevada Victim Advocate Model Protocols can be found on the Attorney General’s website by clicking here.

These materials were developed and produced by the Criminal Justice Committee of the Attorney General’s Nevada Council for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.
