Carson City, NV – Today, following the Nevada Supreme Court’s
certification of the State’s elections results, Attorney General Aaron
D. Ford issued the following
statement. The Supreme Court praised the efforts of the State and specifically
Nevada Secretary of State Cegavske’s ‘exemplary’ work in ensuring a safe and
secure election during COVID-19.
“First
and foremost, I want to congratulate our local winners, President-Elect Joe
Biden, and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris on their wins in Nevada,” said
AG Ford. “I would also like to congratulate the American people and every
voter in this election for making your voice heard this year and participating
in our democratic process.”
“As
our Supreme Court Justices noted, this election was handled ‘properly, reliably
and with integrity,’ which is a standard we can always expect from the State of
Nevada,” AG Ford continued. “I commend Secretary Cegavske and her office
for their dedication to ensuring that every eligible voter in Nevada had the
opportunity to participate in this election in a way that did not compromise
the safety or efficiency of our election process. I would also like to express
my gratitude to all election workers for their commitment to this election.”
The State of Nevada
took swift action to secure our elections process in light of the global
pandemic. After the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention issued its guidance in advance of election day encouraging mail-in voting
methods, Governor Sisolak immediately convened a Special Legislative Session to
pass Assembly
Bill 4 which provided every active
registered voter in Nevada with a mail-in ballot and created options for
Nevadans to vote in a manner consistent with public health concerns.
The
meeting of the Presidential Electors is scheduled for December 14, 2020.
