Carson City, NV – Today,
Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford announced that Rachel Anderson will be
departing the Attorney General’s Office and returning to her position at the
University Of Nevada Las Vegas William S. Boyd School Of Law as a full, tenured
Professor of Law. Her last day with the office will be January 8, 2021, which
coincides with Anderson’s initial commitment to serve as General Counsel for
two years.
Anderson has served in her current
role since January 7, 2019. As General Counsel, she serves as the top legal
advisor for the Attorney General’s Office on a broad range of legal and policy
matters and is a member of AG Ford’s senior executive team. She also serves as
the chief advisor to the Office on ethics to ensure all staff perform their
work to the highest legal and ethical standards. Anderson frequently
represents the Office at events for the community and the legal field.
"When I asked Rachel to take
leave from her tenured professorship for two years and serve as our General
Counsel, it was because I knew her sharp legal mind, extensive experience, and
respect for the rule of law would prove absolutely invaluable in helping guide
our office,” said Attorney General Aaron D. Ford. “Beyond her
well-deserved professional accolades and expertise, Rachel is one of the
kindest, most honorable people I have ever met, and while we will miss her dearly, I
could not be happier for her to return to Boyd School of Law, where she will
impart her passion and wisdom to our state’s newest attorneys.”
“Serving under Attorney General
Aaron Ford has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” said Rachel
Anderson. “I will miss the great team at the Office of the Attorney
General. I look forward to continuing to support AG Ford’s visionary
leadership in my capacity as a constituent, a scholar, and a friend.”
Due to Anderson’s departure, the
Attorney General’s Office is now accepting applications for this general
counsel position. Those interested should visit our website for more
