Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU)

When a provider of health-care cheats the system, the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) investigates and prosecutes the Medicaid provider that obtained Medicaid funds through fraudulent means. Providers include hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, doctors, dentists, and anyone else who is paid by Medicaid for a health-care service. In Nevada, it is a crime for a provider to bill Medicaid for a service that was not actually provided.

The MFCU has a general policy that a self-reporting provider will not be prosecuted on criminal fraud charges. Contact the MFCU even if you only have suspicions, are not sure whether we can help, or have already called the police or another state agency. We cannot help if we do not hear from you.

The MFCU also investigates instances of patient abuse or neglect that take place in medical facilities as outlined in NRS 228.410 and NRS 449.0151.
