Attorney General’s Office Publishes Updated Open Meeting Law Manual

January 26, 2016

Carson City, NV – Today, Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt announced the updated publication of Nevada’s Open Meeting Law Manual. Enacted in 1960, the Nevada Open Meeting Law ensures that the actions and deliberations of public bodies are conducted openly. The manual, which is grounded in statute and case law, guides the Office’s interpretation and application of the Open Meeting Law.

“My Office is committed to protecting the transparency of the public process and will work diligently to do so,” said Laxalt. “Under my leadership, the Office has undertaken several transparency initiatives in order to provide easier access to public information through the Office website, including the updated publication of Nevada’s Open Meeting Law Manual. The revised manual outlines Open Meeting Law procedure as well as new amendments recently enacted by the Legislature.”
