City of Las Vegas contributes $100,000 in HUD grant funds to Home Again – Nevada Homeowner Relief Program
Las Vegas, NV – The City of Las Vegas and the Office of the Nevada Attorney General today announced a partnership in tackling the housing crisis affecting Nevadans through the City’s contribution to Home Again, a no-fee homeowner relief program.
The partnership – announced by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross, Director of Las Vegas office of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Ken Lobene, and President/CEO of Financial Guidance Center Michele Johnson – included a financial contribution of $100,000 from the city’s HUD grant funds to increase public awareness about the unique “one-stop” program.
Representatives from several organizations released the following statements:
“The housing crisis has affected us all. This Home Again partnership is a demonstration of how government entities can effectively streamline resources and work together to benefit residents and potential homebuyers throughout the state. The City of Las Vegas is proud to provide this grant funding to Home Again as a sign of collaboration and support for what this program is doing for Las Vegans and Nevadans,” said Mayor Carolyn Goodman. “Credit restoration, loan modification and new home buyer services that Home Again provides, are linking callers directly to resources for help in avoiding foreclosure, achieving the dream of home ownership and building stronger neighborhoods for our families in Las Vegas. The city is proud to be a part of this effort.”
“We know that there is a need and an unfulfilled demand across this state for stable, healthy, communities. Smart community development efforts require government, community groups and business to combine their resources to ensure that the help Nevadans need is available to them,” said Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto. “In partnering with the city of Las Vegas, and accepting this generous contribution, we are taking the first step to build the Home Again Coalition, and moving forward to continue our work of reaching out to those in need of help and building a stronger Nevada. I would like to thank Mayor Goodman, the City Council and HUD for this generous and important contribution.”

The city has been at the forefront of helping our community recover from the housing crisis, and Home Again is the resource our constituents need to learn about their options and begin putting their lives back together. Las Vegas has been hit hard for too long, I am excited to join this team effort to help the residents of Las Vegas fight back,” said Councilman Steve Ross.
“The use of HUD grant funds to bolster the impact of Home Again is a solid step toward recovery here in southern Nevada. We’re excited to join a program that has seen such success in its early stages and look forward to further progress as we face the housing challenges in southern Nevada,” commented Ken Lobene, director of the Las Vegas HUD office.

With the combined efforts of the HUD-certified agencies and our government partners, we’re helping Nevadans learn more about their options every day. Home Again, the statewide program initiated by AG Masto, is designed to help Nevadans determine what state or federal assistance may be available to them with a single “one-stop,” free resource. A financial contribution from the city of Las Vegas to Home Again will be allocated from the city’s Housing and Urban Development grant funds.
The Home Again hotline is a public service from the Attorney General’s office as a result of the National Mortgage Settlement designed for:
- Those seeking credit restoration
- Households working toward home ownership
- Homeowners seeking loan modification
- Those who are facing foreclosure
The single point-of-contact service is available for all Nevadans simply by calling toll-free 1-855-HLP4-NEV (1-855-457-4638) with both English and Spanish-speaking assistance available. The call center is open 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Information is also available at HomeAgainNevada.gov. The Home Again program was created in partnership among the AG’s office, Financial Guidance Center (FGC), Nevada Legal Services (NLS), and Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. Participating HUD-approved agencies within the program include FGC, NLS, Housing for Nevada, Community Services of Nevada, Neighborhood Housing Services, Novadebt, Springboard, and Chicanos Por La Causa.
